Stainless steel mixer tanks and storage vessels which are used to mix
substances like chemicals and liquids are often utilised in the chemicals,
building construction and food processing industries.
Because the interior of the mixer tanks is subject to production residue that
sticks to the surface over time, such as adhesive waxes, resins, oils, dirt,
etc., regular cleaning and maintenance is required. Accumulation of dirt can
contribute to poorer quality and performance of finished product as well as
stretched production timeline; thereby, affecting overall productivity and
efficiency.
One excellent solution for cleaning mixer tanks is dry ice blasting. Dry ice
blasting is a non-abrasive cleaning method that uses solid CO2 to lift
contaminants off surfaces upon impact. This differs from conventional cleaning
processes that utilise sand or glass beads – cleaning agents that are abrasive
and can damage as well as worsen wear and tear of surfaces – when used over time.
Dry ice cleaning can thus potentially help to prolong the tank equipment’s life
span and contribute to cost savings.
In addition, dry ice cleaning leaves no residue that needs further cleaning or
disposal because of its liquefaction process – ice moves from solid to gaseous
stage. This is not the case when cleaning agents are used in conventional
cleaning methods. Dry ice, being non-flammable and inert – also poses low
risk of chemical reaction with other products, making this a safer and
non-toxic cleaning method for industrial applications in most industries.
